So in case ya'll have been wondering how I got "here". I took on the project of going through the large shared coin jar in my house (years of collection) as well as all the individual piggy banks (my kids, haha). At my day job, attention to detail is key (administrative side of healthcare - contracting, consulting & numbers/billing). While I have a general knack for noticing when something is "off", I'm still trying to learn all the different types of coin errors/varieties, their nuances, how to differentiate amongst said varieties, as well as between actual mint errors and
PMD. I have tonsssss more to go through so bear with me. Thanks for teaching me all I've learned so far!

I found this penny in my 1960s pile last night. The smushed/flattened L in "Liberty" on the obverse is probably
PMD, but what's going on with the "I"? It is not flattened, but it is definitely smaller than the rest of the letters.
On the reverse, there is lots of dings and scratched but I included a up close of the two things that look odd to me. First on the top portion of the Lincoln roof there is a piece that looks like it doesn't belong (die chip?). On the lower portion of the roof there is a "scratch" with very interesting placement (I put arrows to the start and end of it, it does look indented).
Thoughts?
