I will upload a photo tommorow but I received a 2006 canadian quater today and it felt odd. As I looked at it.. on the Moose side I could also see a Queen side stamped over the Moose side, when I fliped the quater over the Queen side is fine. I fliped the quater over again and put a nickle on it and it seem thats the Queen side of a nickle was punched over the moose side of the quater. Is this rare? As I said I will post a photo tommrow.
Thanks!

Nice error coin tammyblond.

I think it's called a flip over strike, it was struck normal on the Queens side, then flipped over, and dropped back into the striking chamber, and struck again, instead of being ejected, it was stuck again.

Not real positive if that was what happened.. but

It can't be a flip over double struck because you are dealing with two denominations. A quarter planchet will not fit in the coining chamber for a 5 cent coin but the 5 cent details are on top of the quarter details. The key to this coin is the incuse lettering from the 5 center- that is a dead giveaway that this is the result of two coins being smashed together, aka a "manufactured error".

Looks like a job for the "Vise" squad! For what it's worth this looks like it was squeezed probably by using a vise. Note the Nickel design is incuse and reversed. Thus it's not a error but rather a product of someone who has too much time on his hands. ~ Jim

I would think that the backwards lettering gave that away.
