Everyone that decides to participate posts their ugliest coin they have on this thread (with a picture), and I will decide which one is the ugliest. This can consist of road kill, worn, scratched, mutilated or what you call ugly. The deadline for this contest is 5 days from today. The prizes will be as follows: You will get your pick of one of the following 1900- Indian Head cent 1935- Mercury dime 1964- Canadian 5 cent 1963- 50 centavos (from Portugal) 1963- 10 cent coin (from The Netharlands) 1980- 10 cent coin (from the Bahamas) There is also a bonus question so there could also be 2 winners or the winner of the ugliest coin could bring home 2 coins. What countries did I serve in while I was in the Army? There are 2, so I guess you could say there could be 3 winners. The prize for this question will be one coin (of my choice) from that country. One guess per person (on one of the countries) and the country can only be used once. As you guess I will mark that country and your name off my list. Winners will be posted to list in GREEN. I submit it here for your contemplation: Australia, International Year of the Family 50 cents 1994 It's supposed to be a child's drawing of a family, but the artist (an adult) just made it look trash-modern-art-ugly. It doesn't even say what it's supposed to be - you have to know that the squiggly thing is the IYF symbol. All that blank space on such a large coin also makes for an easy target for bagmarks, scuffing and scratches: the ones in circulation for awhile often end up looking even uglier than this one. Anti-fans of the State Quarter series will be unsurprised to hear that it actually won a competition as best submitted design. Country of Service? I'll go out on a limb and say East Timor.
