there is an upcoming auction this week in the USA.
this auction contains an 1877 1 cent indian head and a 3-legged Buffalo nickel. please see other post for the nickel.
I am just curious
1 is it real? can anyone tell? auctioneer does not offer a guarantee
2 what is the coin worth?

I'll just say the photos aren't large enough to identify the die pair, which is critical if one must buy this raw.
Besides, what is that raised line going through the date, skipping over the ribbon and appearing to continue through the hair?
If this isn't dust and is on the coin...there isn't a genuine die pair with these marks. You also cannot tell if the coin is corroded, cleaned, or retoned from those pics...and I'm assuming they want $$ for this?

yeah, auctioneer will start it high.. How high, am not sure. however, the bid sheet indicates $ 3800 he would like to get.
will not bite on this one and stay away..
