I am sure this question has come up many times, so I am happy to take links. My Google skills failed on this subject—all I got was dozens of red herring articles about "Why your $2 bill could be worth 1000x more!!1! L@@K!"

The majority of bills in my envelope are 1976. I understand that certain Fed banks can be valuable. I have mostly Philadelphia, some Dallas, with a few NY, Chicago, San Francisco. I also have some blocks of completely pristine sequential bills (Philly). Finally, there are a few notes from 1953 and 1963, although the condition is circulated.

I did read somewhere that star notes can be of interest, but I did not know that when I checked the issuing banks.

Anything else?

Your best tool for current pricing is by checking the ebay SOLD listings for notes similar to yours. Don't look at asking prices.

Most notes don't gain any value just by being conservative. Check for fancy serial numbers on all of the notes. Series 1976 sounds old but it's treated as a modern. The 1953 and 1963 $2 red seals are also common and typically not valued much above face value unless in uncirculated condition.

There are more 1976 $2 notes sold on ebay everyday than anywhere else on the planet. Search "1976 $2 dollar bill" then click on Filter, then scroll down to Sold Items and click that. You'll see page after page of Sold $2 notes. It's free and easy and you'll get a real time idea of current pricing trends. Something a currency guide is unable to do.
