I will add that the color is unusual for a coin with this amount of wear.

But with coins always/shoulda can be thrown out the proverbial "Window". There are always exceptions when talking about coins.
As we all know coins from in the vintage days were absolutely acceptable when they were "cleaned" - as long as they weren't polished to crap and full of scratch lines. And in this case IF this coin was indeed cleaned - then so be it - macmercury asked for a grade.

Just my opinion. I have a half-roll of these in EF-AU (seriously) and none look like this. I am concerned that it might not grade straight.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/116358941063

This was purchase on ebay group lot, seller scan the coins, so it doesn't really show any details, it is closer to brown with a blue hue patina, could have been cleaned once?

just going by the photos presented I can see why CF called a possible cleaning on it. the color, especially the obv is off. angle and light could be the culprit.

i'll give it the benefit of the doubt without better straight on photos

dont think there is enough there for AU...XF45
