Let's see if I checked this 1976-D Penny correctly lol

The edges from where the rim is cut off are smooth, I don't see any pushed over dye from a "hit". Is this a rim clip? Something else? Or is it (dreaded) PMD?

If you look at your full coin shot of the reverse, you can see the coin took a hit to the same area, dented in.

I agree with the consensus - just a hit from something - as you see the rim is bent.
