I'm a bit confused by why this nickel sold for such a high price. Can you see any reasons why? Granted its mint state but I don't think it would grade high enough to command that price.

I thought I had a shot at it and then to price jumped over $250 in the last few minutes. I looked for any kind of error that I might be able to see from the pics but nothing jumped out at me. I just don't get it. But then its not the first time I've seen something sell for way over what I believe its value to be.

I see zero reasons why this would go that high.

Full strike was also my first impression. All it takes is two people who want the same thing.

That's a lot of money for a raw 1913 T1, a coin which is readily available in quantity up to MS65. It is a razor sharp strike to be sure as has been mentioned. I don't think it's a proof, though. By way of comparison, here's my 1913 T1 in a PCGS MS65 rattler holder. Compare the strike quality of this coin and the one OP linked.

Nice coin. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the strike quality on your coin as being better the subject coin.
