Did SMS coins get a second strike like proofs? Regardless of whether they do or not, this does not look like hub doubling. Either from the second strike, if they got them or MD, IMVHO.

That bears some strong similarities to FS-101. We would need some images of Liberty to confirm that. The doubled dies for many SMS coins presents similarly to Machine Doubling, so it's hard to be sure with just IGWT. The full coin pics are attractive, but I can't see small details for the glare. http://www.varietyvista.com/09b%20W...7PDDO002.htm

Quote: Did SMS coins get a second strike like proofs? Per my understanding from prior CCF discussions, no. SMS were polished die, single strike, ordinary planchet.

One of LIB would be nice instead of four of ERTY but think my first thought was correct with MD. Thank you for the extra pic.

Appreciate the new images of Liberty. I don't think this coin is a specimen of FS-101. There are no splits and doubling on the R and other letters. Although I am leaning to the Machine Doubling camp, I can't entirely get past the way that doubling on other SMS coins also resembles Machine Doubling.

I think these two responses are somewhat related. I searched dimes for a time and would find actual doubled dies and they looked like MD to me. I really have a hard time with the clads.

Not seeing the split serifs (lower right) on "RTY" on the OP's coin. Conclude MD on this one.

I noticed a lack of "splits" on any letters as well which is why I'm in the MD camp.
Clad messes q/ me as well.
