Maybe a heavy handed mint worker, I've seen this before but not to this extreme. I noticed in the full coin shot (very nice pics once again), that there was a lot of strong abrading/die scratches, that makes me think there may have been a strong clash at one time. The area in question is where EPU would transfer, so maybe a real heavy polishing? Could just have been something drug across the die too, creating the gouges/dents. Very cool looking, regardless.

Thank you for the link makecents and thank you for the image Marve65!! you are right about the die clash and polishing. Thank you all for the help here, my question about what happened with this coin was answered  Makecents, yes thtas why everytime I try to learn hiw to do better with the images, that will help you to help me to get my answers.

I like the idea about clashing but I'm wondering if it might be counter clashing under the bust.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Thank you Petespockets55 and makecents! But I can tell, whatever is going on here (clash or counter clash), when you have the coin in hand you can see that, even with the naked eye, look pretty cool and I like it
