Had to start a thread of its own for these coins.
Any one rate this set highly?
The mintage was in the 2022-23 annual report, nothing extra in the 2023-24 report.
Not to say that they won't amend figures in future reports as has happened before., but unlikely?
$25 at release.

Wow! I bought a couple when they first came out. They were gifts for kids. Out of curiosity I just checked ebay and those same $25 kits are selling for $200+ ! That is nuts! The kits themselves are just junk and the coins are of interest due to the commemorative obverse. But $200+? Why?
The AFL sets are going for less than the original price. It will be interesting to see if Annaconda bother with another year of NRL sets too. What is it that sees some 'junk' sets more popular than others? If the Creatures of the deep are so popular, would RAM try to cash in and release another version next year (instead of AFL/NRL/Big Things/alphabet junk)? Hmm, popcorn at the ready.

Yes, no way my lunch would fit in that.
The mintage figures released are the reason for the huge jump in price.
One seller is stating the fact that the $2 coin has way less mintage than the 2020 tooth fairy coin.Which is still selling @ over $200.

I would think that the $2 collectors would be all over this set, only 7142 (Memorial type ), maybe the craze is dwindling fast, too many too soon?
I am struggling to keep up myself.

I have again questioned the RAM about the mintage figures they release in their annual report.
Sent them an email on 29/11/24.
There was no mention of the 'In Memorial ' 50cent PNC 2023 in either the 2022-23 or 2023-24 report.
They replied on 7/1/25
Said it was in the 2023-24 report which read;
year product Qty Mintage
code
50 cent Uncirculated - PNC " 2024 11575 10300 Unlimited

This was to me obviously wrong as the coin was dated 2023 and had a mintage of 'no more than 9500' on the PNC.
So I again requested them to take a further look into it.
Got a reply today .

to me, info

Dear .......

We have investigated your query further and have identified that this information was incorrectly published in the 2023/24 Annual Report.

We will make a remuneration and document it in the Mint's 2024/25 Annual Report.

Thank you,

Royal Australian Mint

So what it boils down to is that the mintage of the 'Memorial ' 50 cent is more than the 7102 that all other 'Memorial 'coins are.
Possibly 16602?
Have to wait for the corrected mintage.

Hey Crab Eater, the RAM are going to make a "remuneration" for their stuff up? Hope they make it something substantial. Good work on your behalf.
I think it is really sad that we can't rely on the RAM to provide ACCURATE and FACTUAL information about mintage figures. It makes me wonder are they incompetent or dishonest? Why can't they, or why don't they, get it right? What is the benefit to them? Maybe deliberately trying to inflate values of certain coins?

Not holding my breath SallyG.
Pretty sure they used the wrong wording (mistakes as usual).
