Correct terrminology is a Doubled Die.
Also a DD is a variety, not an error, big difference.
Agree with Deerborn on DDD, another worthless type of doubling.
At first I thought it was split plating but I see no evidence of zinc showing through.

I believe it is due to Split plating doubling.
