Hello, I bought this coin off of an older friend that was going to get rid of his collection that was given to him by his father when he passed away. I noticed that this 1913-s is a key date (I have 2 of them and will post later), but I am not good at all in grading coins any ideas of what this will grade?

I would agree with mycrob, F-15. My thought is the wreath is a little weak to be a full VF-20.

The reverse is in better condition than the obverse, I would grade this coin as F-15.

There isn't a complete LIBERTY, normally that is required for a F-12.

But, VG-10 seems to be too low.

Yes, I was thinking that it is not full "Liberty" as well, which would technically give it a VG, but the reverse is really nice and the coin has great overall eye appeal. I think it would get a F12-15.

I think I see pieces of all the letters in LIBERTY, and the ANA standard is for all the letters to be "weak but visible," so that's why I voted Fine.

Thank you all for your help. This being a key date is this worth slabbing?

Slabbing coins simplifies selling them, but there's not much advantage otherwise.

Everyone has different cutoff points for the value at which they advise slabbing, but paying the fees to grade a coin worth no more than $100 (like this one) is probably not a wise financial decision.

I agree with those who said F12. I would not slab this coin. It's clearly authentic and worth about $90.

Hang on to it!

Worth more than $90, these things sell for CRAZY prices on ebay. You can expect easily $150 for it.
