Hello, ****** EDITED THE REVERSE PHOTO I POSTED THE WRONG REVERSE IN THE INITIAL POST - not that it will make much difference. I bought five of these today in a collection with two 21 MDs, a WLH, and 1925 SLQ... They are in similar find to this one ... One hair hairlines in the fields but none on the devices. They are all toned. I see A LOT of these in Rome and they tend to sell at a premium because of the Columbus connection. I've owned exactly two of these before... One at bullion grade and price... Curious how this one from today would grade...and would you keep the packaging or put them in a tube with Barber halves? Thanks! Edited by Roma2021 12/05/2024 4:04 pm

I'll say high AU with lots of reverse surface scratches. Our first commemorative coin and still the cheapest to own after all these years.

@coinfrog, I didn't pay silver price on these but likely low retail based on the old dealer packaging. The whole buy today was good but these don't come up here near u.s..retail price so I figured why not ...worst case they help me fill out a Barber halves tube.

How remarkable they're still showing up in Italy - or maybe not!

Roma, personally I don't think that this packaging adds anything to the coin. Others probably feel differently.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

@moniker - nearly everything I buy here are collections and wholesale from dealers that cannot really sell - for instance worn Washington quarters -to local buyers. I'll take most of everything I've bought back to the u.s. in a few weeks, sell some, store some, remain undecided on some haha @hondo I agree after poking around them a bit tonight. I think they'll go in a Barber halves tube tomorrow night.

@ moniker, simply because I will probably keep them for a while and they will help fill up a Barber half dollar tube. For travel, and keeping track of lower value coins I prefer bullion tubes.

I suggest mid-AU grade. Agreed the dealer packaging adds no value.

I like the toning on this coin, High AU for me. Don't stick it in a tube. It too beautiful for that.
