I pick this up in a recent BIN on ebay, while going through the 153 days of Dansco Albums posts created by CollegeBarbers, I noticed my Japan album has a "filler" in one hole that I would like to replace with the "one", but long story short. I got a counter offer from seller Boardwalk Numismatics and accepted their offer, just a tad higher price, weight is on spot and tested fine, thinking this maybe a good candidate for NGC or PCGS? A Christmas present to myself. I used the images from seller on ebay and just dropped their background and filled in with my own.

By the way, this Japanese one Yen has the Osaka Gin countermark, since it is on the left side. The Tokyo Gin countermark was always placed on the right side.

I am delighted to see this very beautiful coin posted, since I just picked up from a local dealer an identical specimen, although somewhat less condition. Am hoping mine is genuine.. price was not all that high. I will post photos in a separate thread soon.

Nice addition macmercury. Gin countermarked coins have certainly picked up in popularity and price the last several years. Here is an 1895 Gin right (Tokyo) countermark I purchased 25 years or so ago on the old Teletrade format.

Beautiful coins. I still regret having passed on one. Expensive too.
