So I picked up a few coin rolls from my credit union a couple weeks ago and there was one roll that had mostly all '80's cents, along with a couple of '70 & '60's. So, I went back and picked up a couple bucks worth that appeared to come from the same person. Surprisingly, all 5 rolls were made up of the same range of dates, with some really nice '80's coins that look like they've never been in circulation!! Among them, I found this guy! I can't figure out how one could do this to a coin after it's been minted, but I've said that more times than I can remember!! I just wanted to get y'all's opinion!

Cool, thanks for everyone's feedback!! That was my first impression as well! However, that mark above memorial on reverse had me second guessing the bigger spots!!

Yes, the spot you spoke of here would appear to be damage to the coin after strike and much more recent given the color.

That's just the light reflecting off that smaller mark, @makecents, in hand, all 3 spots look identical as far as color
