Recent ebay purchase of a nicely struck (and maybe early die state?) MAD Clash ADC-25c-1976(1776)-01 bicentennial quarter. Such a brutally strong clash on this specimen, I thought it was worth sharing. Would appreciate input on a few things. What is the issue with the rim area west of the motto? Is that a collar clash, die break, damage? Is there any relevance to the double image around the face (chin, lips, under nose)? Maybe part of the clash, or another issue? What's the best place to send in for capsuling? Would ANACs give it the actual MAD clash designation? Edited by CentR 12/28/2024 3:14 pm

As E&V stated, very nice die & collar clashes. The star at the neckline is cool! Thanks for sharing this one.

I looked a little closer and I was wrong. This is not an Adc-25c-1976(1776)-01. It is a different clash. The difference between the 2 is easy to discern in the position of the clashed stars. I made a Powerpoint overlay with a semi transparent obverse in front. The clash on this coin is rotated a few degrees off center. The clash on Adc-25c-1976(1776)-01 is not rotated (see images). This explains the discrepancies. Different location of clash marks, collar clash on this one but not Adc-25c-1976(1776)-01, and maybe even, at least in part, the stronger clash on this one vs Adc-25c-1976(1776)-01. Here's the link to Adc-25c-1976(1776)-01 for those wanting to take a closer look. https://www.maddieclashes.com/adc-25c-19761776-01/
