Could be weld spatter. Definitely didn't leave the mint with that freckle though.

A BB would probably deform the back. It takes a lot of force to drive metal into metal. I'm on team solder (or weld spatter, etc.).

Meyerstone, I just spent 40 minutes cropping all your uploaded images. Please do this before uploading, it literally only takes about 5 seconds per image.

As for the OPs coin - it could be a molten drop of copper was dropped on the coin to get this effect.
