My 2024 Secret Santa gifted me with a tremendous opportunity to travel backwards in time ~2 generations and search through 5 rolls of nickels saved a long time ago.
Those search results will form the basis for this contest.
You can read the current state of my search here:
http://goccf.com/t/474753The ContestGuess the
combined total of 1941 (Philly), 1946 (Philly) and 1954-D Jefferson I find while searching rolls 4 and 5 of my Secret Santa gift.
The Rules1. The contest
guessing will close whenever I post the results of my roll #4 search in the CRH thread linked above.
2. The contest will end (obviously) when I post the results of my roll #5 search and add together the combined total finds of the three coins.
3. Open at all CCF members with at least 50 quality posts.
4. I'll ship the prizes anywhere allowed by US law.
5. One guess per person.
6. Do not edit your guess. Edited guesses will be disqualified.
7. Duplicate guesses can be corrected by entering a new guess. Do not edit your duplicate post.
8. There will be two winners and two prizes awarded. See below for a description of the winner process.
9. Winners must be willing to PM me their mailing address.
Questions on the rules?
TipsMy choice of the three coins is not as random as it might appear. Dedicated nickel roll searchers will recognize these as quite common in their roll searches.
You can read about how common they are in this thread where I document my nickel find rates at completion of my bank roll set (320,800 nickels searched):
http://goccf.com/t/198187However - the coins in my Secret Santa gift were set aside generations ago, so modern time rates likely do not apply!
The Winners:There will be two prizes.
1. The person who guesses closest to the actual coin count will be awarded their choice of prizes. For the first place guess it does not matter if the guess is above or below the actual count.
2. In the event of a tie for the closest guess, the person who guessed
under the actual coin count will be the 1st place winner and the person who guessed over will be the 2nd place winner.
3. In the event where there is not a tie for closest guess, the person who guesses 2nd closest to the actual coin count with receive the remaining prize. For this prize the guess
must be lower than the actual coin count.
The PrizesPrize A:
Mini Sergeant of Time clock made by me. Maple, cherry and purpleheart woods. This is a piece of fine handmade craft and retails for $46 at the Gallery that represents my work.
One of the CCF Mod Dudes has the big brother to this clock, won as a prize in my 10,000 post contest. I hope it's still working!
Prize B:No photo - because this prize is all the nickels I find during my 5 roll search.

I'll include everything even any key dates if I come across some.
EDIT: If there are any duplicate key date coins found I will include the best example in the Prize B package, and then start a new mini-contest to award any duplicates to a current Jefferson CRH member who needs it for his/her set. All of the coins found from my Secret Santa roll search will be given away. This will be a great start for someone interested in beginning (or perhaps completing) a CRH set of
Jefferson nickels.
