I was reading the post about the signature series and
took a look at the DGS site. There was a link referencing
close and Wide AM's. It listed an 88 WAM as being rare. Did they mean
a Close AM ? Maybe a misprint ?

Is not the FG that is different on the 1988-P&D? maybe and expert will reply an I am not a expert.

Yes, the Designer's Initials (FG) were changed in 1989 and any 1988 Cents with the newer FG look are transitional pieces!
