It looks scratched to me. A die crack would make raised metal on the coin.

Sport, you are probably right about it being a scratch, The color changes that are on both sides and surrounding it threw me off as I was looking at it as a whole picture, and as a vet I thought it was a bit surreal.

Looks more like some kind of substance was spilled on the coin try a soaking in 100% pure acetone.

Yeah, that's some kind of stain or glue; you can see through it. I agree; soak it in acetone.

Some stains look like cracks around the edges, there not cracks, it is just a different level.
