Hard to pin down with so many similar DDO for 1944-D. I would say WDDO-025 or -035, or VDDO-017 based on a few factors:

Bottom-left slant of Liberty. Mint mark position with crooked D. Shape of 9 thickness. Odd notching on underside of 4 crossbars. Weird little crooked feet on 44 with protrusion right.

Wexler 1944-D 1¢

Variety Vista VDDO-017

Yes, VDDO-017 (one of my listings on VV). This die had been known for a long time, but is so close to DDO-001, FS-101 that PCGS and other TPGs were consistently mis-labeling it as FS-101. That's a huge error, as one of these in MS 66 is just a nice DDO but an FS-101 in MS 66 is worth several hundred dollars. So I submitted one to VV and it was listed as VDDO-017, which I hope helps sort out these two very strong class VI doubled dies. Simplest way, without much fuss, is to just look at the distance the mint mark is from the bottom of the first 4. DDO-001 is a noticeably a bit closer to the number, while VDDO-017 is further out. For reference, VDDO-017 should crossover to WDDO-025. However, WDDO-035 is a new entry into the mix, and I have no example of this one to understand how it isn't just a different die stage of WDDO-025, which it looks like. As is, without die markers I'd say it's VDDO-017, but unsure how it would cross to Wexler.

The more I pore over varieties in TrueView, the more mistakes like that I find. Some are subtle, and others are especially egregious. As you point out, the difference in value can be hundreds of dollars.

Regarding this particular variety, it's interesting that the first doubled die that I ever found was another example of 1944-D WDDO-025. It also happens to be the only other Wheat cent doubled die that I recall finding. Odd that they should both be the same variety.

Thanks to TB for the education on the varieties, and to everybody for the help. =)
