I found a 2015 shield penny with a beautiful error. Has the reverse of the Memorial cent on the front. Very noticeable, and easily seen with bare eyes. I found it in pocket change. Any ideas how much it is worth? (Accidentally uploaded the same Pic twice I did not see an error on the reverse, only the obverse) *** Edited by Staff - Removed duplicate image. ***Edited by ShyneNGi01 01/11/2025 11:13 am

You posted two pictures of the reverse of this coin. Please post a picture of the obverse. (Note: the files names must be different. If you upload two images with the same file name, one overwrites the other. I hope that makes sense.) Looking forward to your new obverse image. Thanks

to the CCF, ShyneNGi01! Your coin is not an error - someone squeezed two coins together in a vise of hit them with a hammer, causing one coin to make a reverse impression on the other.

Looks like glue. Try a soak in warm water.

That's just glue, you can see right through it. Give it a good soak in acetone and it will come off.

Sorry but not an error Someone has put some glue on the coin and pressed the reverse of a Memorial cent on it. There is no way this could happen during the striking of the coin. It is worth 1 cent either way.

Tunnioc and bobby changed my mind... I never considered glue, but that makes more sense given these images. Thanks!
@ShyneNGi01 after a soak in pure acetone (not nail polish remover), please give us an update.

To CCF! It's just glue. Try giving your coin a soak in pure acetone. It should come off. Your coin is worth one cent, as it's not an error.

Just ask yourself - how could that ever happen at the mint?
