Spence Moderator United States 34418 Posts	Posted 01/15/2025 9:32 pm @tman, in the first couple years that the mint worked with copper-plated zinc cents (i.e. 1982 and 1983), they struggled a bit with quality control. I think that all of the surface roughness that you are seeing here can be attributed to those diffculties.
