Came across this 1965 dime missing part on the front and most of the reverse. It's not paint or altered its a bright shinny copper color on both sides. Has anyone ever seen one like this.

Good to have the weight on this one, but I'm also skeptical that there is a missing clad layer. Surface discoloration seems much more likely to me, but I'm interested to see where we net out on this one. @mack, this site might be helpful as you continue your research:

Not a missing clad error .
Simply environmental issues.

Seems unlikely no one noticed this for 60 years, so it's unlikely the coin left the Mint looking like this.

Thanks everyone for the input and thanks Spence for the link. The link gets pretty interesting that by definition its a (Missing Clad Layer:
Partial: Before Strike) it shows and explains everything including a picture that close to my dime. Interesting also is this is an exact match to my 1776-1976 quarter I posted a few days ago. First picture is the example, middle is my 1776-1976 quarter.

I would agree halfamind but I've had this dime for over 20 years and after seeing a 1979 Jefferson Nickel Struck On a steel washer sell for 4,800.00 bucks nothing surprises me lol.
