Well it is red-colored, but not in the way that folks mean when they say a copper coin is red. That only applies to minimally circulated coins that have not yet begun to tone.

The L touching the rim is very common with the '68 D--not an error, it's a matter of a worn die and a weak design. Looks like the 8 took a hit in circulation long ago.

Yeah it's just a circulated "Brown" in color '68 cent.
Find a MS-65 version of this coin and make a comparison!
