I thought this was an interesting coin. I have not seen another one like it. Eleanor is missing a portion of her eyeglasses, and there is no United. Would this be classified as an over polished die or what? And is there a market for coins like this because I have a lot of coins where letters and portions of the writing is missing. Thanks in advance for your feed back.

I would lean toward PMD. UNITED is incuse and for it not to strike up, there would have to a lot of grease causing a big step with the field in the affected area. Most likely abraded by someone.

Strange - rim is fully struck but the details are gone in that area

Have to know the reason for the problem before that question can be answered.

This seems to be from a plugged die. Erro-ref.com lists this under "Struck through grease." As you have discovered, saying you have a number of them, it is not all that uncommon.

Generally stuff like this is hyped up on ebay as being a rare error by people trying to sucker others out of their money, or, to be fair, some people just don't know any better. A lot of people nowadays have been led into thinking anything odd in a coin means the coin has to be a collectable.
