It's not a coin but this is the forum where I think this one would be most enjoyed. I bought this in a big lot of error coins to resell and while sad that someone had to try and clean it, it's still extremely cool-looking. 1973 Christmas Silver Art Bar (20g) Washington Mint - double struck with 2nd strike 55% off center and full brockage reverse Edited by tropicalbats 01/22/2025 9:23 pm

Wow! That's wicked cool! Never seen an error like that, on a silver bar before.

I am impressed, that is a nice addition. Are there collectors just for Bars like tokens? Or are bars just additions for coin collectors?

Good question! I now have a double struck round and this double struck bar. I think both are really neat, but no clue where the market is for this stuff. I looked on ebay for something like "silver bar error" and while nothing really quite like these showed up there apparently is a big market for bars with errors on them.

Well since I'm already a bit off topic with the bar, here is the double struck round. 1988 Year of the Dragon AMC Mint 1oz Round - Double Struck

If that was the result, I cannot imagine the racket that rectangular bar made in the machine. A really unusual and visually compelling piece.

Sounds like there is a market for those but no real educational documentation. I think if you continue your research you will be renowned not only here but elsewhere as well. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.

Thanks for the kind comments! I honestly don't know how many of these types of things might even be on the market, as the private mints could easily cull them out if they wanted to. And I'm guessing they do, as very few seem to be out there for sale. But certainly they are large and showy errors so likely they get put away in collections quickly if they do come up.
