Found this 1944 S steel penny. It has a strong attraction to a magnet Has the right weight. From everything I can see it is real. Pretty new to this but did a lot of research. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Please post an end-on pic or two of the rim--looking straight at the rim. Thanks.

Readily available from China on dozens upon dozens of sites. Any mint mark you want.

The COPY is not on the coin, it's photoshopped.

@bobby nailed it.
But it was worth a temporary excitement

The 1944-S Steel Cent is an extremely rare off-metal striking created when a steel blank left over from 1943 was struck in the normal production run of 1944-S Bronze Cents. Only two examples are known to exist.

Fine, send it off and learn an expensive lesson instead of a free one.

If you're not satisfied with the opinions of the folks here, your next step is to take it to a coin shop in your area. The shop owner will be able to inspect it in hand and give you a more certain opinion. You may want to take it a few places to get multiple opinions.

Whatever you decide to do with your coin, go into it expecting to find that it is not what it appears to be.

If you do get it looked at a shop or two, please come back and let us know what they say. We're all here to learn and your experience could help others when they find something like this. Good luck!

FYI, All you have to look at is the 100% cartoon mintmark to know it's fake.

So I suppose you're saying that there is no chance of getting one. Yet there are still some out there somewhere. Hmm

Look at the mintmark man, looks like someone did it in crayon. Doesn't get any faker than that. It's not even a good fake, it's laughable.

Right out of the Chinese fake factory .
Send it in to one of the major grading
companies for a definitive opinion.
Should only cost you a hundred or so
all in .

I understand your excitement, but I agree w/ all the others.... unfortunately appears to be a fake. If it were my coin, my next step would be to take it into a couple local coin shops & get their opinions.
