I've got a bid in on this raw coin with a dealer I've done business with before. Full return privileges. Obviously a FB coin, but I was bothered a bit by the apparent hairlines on the reverse right field. Sellers pictures are a bit blown out.I went poking around and looking at other examples that were for sale as slabbed coins and noticed fine lines in the reverse fields on several of them. The two pictures with the white BG are of the coin I'm bidding on, the one over the blue BG is a PCGS MS66 FB example, but look at all the apparent hairlines. Thoughts?

Those lines you're seeing could be from die polishing.

Yes, they do have that die polishing appearance.

Also, the first coin would not be FB due to the nicks across the 2nd band separator.

Other things to compare would be the rims on the 1st vs 2nd coin, especially on the obverse - more die wear on the 1st, or a slight misalignment of the obverse die, perhaps.

Given the poor quality of the pictures (overexposed / overly bright) and the ready availability of this coin in grades up to 65FSB, I would pass.

the hairlines to me appear to be all die polish lines. I'm with paralysis that the small hit across the band has a high percentage chance of keeping it out of the FB designation.

MS65 - price it accordingly if you pull the trigger

Even though the middle band has a light circulation hit you can see the "split"under it.

I decided to pass on this one. The more I looked at that right reverse field, the more I noticed the random horizontal scratches. I also noticed that the heavier diagonal scratches, that might be considered die polishing, did not continue under E PLURIBUS UNUM or in the left field. I have bid accordingly.
