I encountered an odd situation on ebay. I bid on a 7 day auction. Today, I received a notice that the seller cancelled my bid. The item is still for sale with 0 bids. It's a seller with 2 sales and a handful of variety coins up for auction.

I assume this is some flavor of scammy behavior, but I'm not sure what it might be. Any insights?

Reach out to the seller. Being inexperienced, perhaps they made a mistake. Their response could settle your "scammy behavior" suspicion.

Brandmeister, any chance you could post a link to the auction?

Did the seller increase their starting bid? And if not, are you able to bid again on the same coin?

I believe I understand what happened now. After some time, the seller canceled the auction. Apparently there was a mistake in the title regarding the coin date. I had noticed that earlier, but I didn't really consider it important. A new auction has been started with the corrected title. Same coin. Perhaps I will bid on it later.
