That started life as a quarter then someone had fun with it in the shop. Just PMD.

Definitely PMD. Someone was messing around with this quarter.

Where to start? There seems to be a white residue on your coin. IMHO, it appears like it might have a proto-rim on both sides, which if true, might rule out that either surface was abraded. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces923.htmlSacagawea dollar= 8.1 grams. Most of the (ribs) seem to be "peaked" but the Sacagewea dollar wasn't ribbed, it was plain. What is the diameter of your ribbed disc? FWIW- Modern regular US quarter= 5.6 grams so, with your coin weighing 6.4g, it couldn't be a US quarter. Sorry I can't definitively answer your question, but it will be interesting to see if you find an answer to your questions.

Thanks EV , Hondo Boguss , Petespockets55 the pictured planchet is 24mm just as a regular quarter , thickness is 1.6mm , but weight is 6.4g to 5.6g a regular one . Maybe a foreign coin planchet ?

Interesting find. But I believe it is just PMD.

You can search the Numista catalog and add filters for size (mm), weight (g), width (mm) and shape to get a list of coins that could possibly match your item.

It can't be the coin from oman. That coin is copper nickel not clad and like our 5 cent piece it has no copper core

Quote: It can't be the coin from oman. That coin is copper nickel not clad and like our 5 cent piece it has no copper core I said it was a wild guess. It was the first match for size-weight that I found. By the way, you have seen a copper toned nickel before, right? For what it is worth, I do not believe the OP coin is clad. It looks like it was plated or painted and then had it removed. Quote: Suzy B meets her end with a power tools SBA dollar is 2.5 mm bigger than this.

Quote: I like J-Tal's answer. That would leave room for loss of weight. But not the missing 2.5 mm of diameter.

You may be correct, jbuck, this is waaaay out of my wheelhouse. Is it the same size as a quarter though? The OP just stated in the title that is was quarter size. uruman, can you take a pic of the coin in question on top of a quarter or the quarter on top of the coin in question? Whichever is smaller on top.
