1942 Jefferson Nickel Type 1 (Cn), Doubled Die Obverse FS-101.

The 1942 5¢ DDO FS-101 has an unusual appearance compared to many other doubled dies of that era. The second misaligned hubbing is shallower around the edge, presenting almost like Machine Doubling. The doubling is strongest on the ridge of the nose. The nickel might be Full Steps. I based the grids on the seller's full coin pics, which are included at the bottom. It's obvious that the seller used professional photography equipment. But then I decided that keeping a low profile on cherry picking was not helpful to the hobby. Identification posts help new variety hunters to learn what's possible to acquire, and at what prices. I guess that publishing finds could be interpreted as bragging, but I feel that it's just sharing the excitement of a find with a small group of fellow enthusiasts. I figure that the folks who come to a variety coin forum to make snide remarks about cherry picking are probably just snowflakes looking for attention. Ignore the negativity and it just melts away.
