FYI - I just received an email from Northeast Numismatics regarding the issuance of a Daniel Carr fantasy coin commemorating the 250th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War. It's overstruck on a 1925 Lexington-Concord commemorative half, and varies in design from the original only with the date and the anniversary inscription. Limited to 250 total, so if you're interested check out their website. I have only previously purchased one Daniel Carr fantasy coin - a 1964 Peace dollar - but now I will have two...

That is indeed a beautiful token. Daniel Carr does a nice job with these. In 2018 I had the opportunity to visit Daniel Chester French Minuteman statue, as well as the Old Belfry.

I like many of Daniel Carr's pieces - I think he does a great job with them! This Lexington-Concord piece is no exception! I'm just not sure I'm ready to put down $300 to participate in the "fantasy." (Maybe after a bit more contemplation! )

Thanks, guys. And nice pic, nickelsearcher! Quote: I'm just not sure I'm ready to put down $300 to participate in the "fantasy." Yes, it was a bit high compared to the typical Daniel Carr fantasy piece, but with the limited edition and it being graded and encapsulated (even though it was by ANACS), I thought it was OK. However, as soon as I saw it and read about it, I had already pretty much made up my mind I was going to get one, even before I saw the price... When I get it in I'll post a side-by-side pic with my actual Lexington commemorative in my set...

I may have to see about getting one of Daniel Carr's Oregon Trail issues. I see the "1848" Oregon Trail struck on a Silver Eagle is readily available, but the "1927-D" overstruck on an Oregon Trail half only had a mintage of 62 so probably a bit tougher to find. I'd much prefer the 1927-D if I can come across one, though...

Quote: I may have to see about getting one of Daniel Carr's Oregon Trail issues. This is part of what has made me hesitant about purchasing one of these Lexington-Concord pieces - as dedicated to the series as I am, I know that if I buy one I'll likely pursue all of Carr's commemorative coin Overstrikes! And I don't want to do that! I purchased Carr's "1975" Bicentennial Overstrikes because they filled an actual gap - the Bicentennial designs were struck in 1975 as well as 1976, but only the dual-dates "1776-1976" appear on the coins. I liked the 1975 aspect of the Overstrikes. (My Carr Bicentennial pieces: 1975 Daniel Carr Bicentennial Fantasies.)
