I just let a Canadian seller know that under no circumstances will I pay a 25% tariff on a coin purchase. They can cancel the sale if they want. Are any Canadian CCF members already feeling the negative impact?

If you buy before midnight next Tuesday, there'll be no tariff.
If you expect a seller to absorb the tariff, they'll need to charge US buyers an extra one-third compared with a non-US buyer.
For high-value items, it may be worth routing the purchase via a non-tariffed country.

Hi Ed. Is this a thing yet? Justin is having a press conference any minute now to lay out Canada's plan, so let's wait and see.

I am not going to get political but this is absolutely insane . A friendship of well over 200 years , standing side by side in the defence of freedom in numerous wars . Destroyed in 13 days ! As to Ed's question .no the pain will start Tuesday. I have instructed our shipping department to get all of our US orders out on Monday. We will evaluate up to the point of shutting down our business ( over 80 per cent to the US ) after that . As a proud Canadian all that I can say .country first . Will take a little economic pain for a bit until sanity returns South of the border . Currently I am in the UK attending the London and Midland Coin Fairs as well as visiting my many British Coin Dealer friends . To a man (100 per cent ) I fear my American friends would not want to hear what is being said about the going's on in DC is . Just leave it at that and state the rest of the world is much more than just our US neighbour ,

Preach, brother! I am not gonna stop it. Well, unless it gets really political or I am overruled.

Preaching. We all know it's foolish to spoil such a good relationship. I better clam up.

I still wonder whether the 25% applies to coins. Not everything is hit with one broad stroke. Pacificoin is getting ready, so maybe he knows.

From the White House fact sheet:
"Until the crisis is alleviated, President Donald J. Trump is implementing a 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% additional tariff on imports from China. Energy resources from Canada will have a lower 10% tariff."
The way I read it, 0% now plus 25% additional = 25% on coins, unless when the fine print is released, it somehow exempts coins. I really doubt that it would.

I wasn't expecting miracles, but that is one broad brush. Shake my head.

Quote: As to Ed's question .no the pain will start Tuesday. Are any import tariffs not accounted for when the package arrives at the border? Edit to add: the Canadian seller of my coin just cancelled the order. Better to wait this mess out.
