I will be in New York City next month. Are there any coin shops or displays people recommend?

I read there is a small display at the ANS and there are coins at the MET (on long-term loan from the ANS).

Was there last year October.
My advice if you are looking for
for coin shops .dont waste your
time , steep sales tax and most shops
have pretty obnoxious staff who think
they are doing the favour of acknowledging
you are even there .
Sight seeing and food places , great although
very expensive .

I have to agree. A trip into NYC and coins are going to be the last thing on my mind.

It closed almost 20 years ago. It is a John Varvatos clothing store now.

@cdn, you'll need a few hours to do the Met justice. See here for a quick sample:

Also, if you do make it and take some pics, feel free to add to that thread. Thx!

My NYC trip was filled with walking around different areas and seeing various attractions. I did purchase two small tokens in a gift shop in Central Park. There were five different tokens for sale. I had connected with Paul Bosco, but unfortunately he was not working during the time I was there due to some medical appointments. I didn't go out of my way to visit any shops, but I was near Stack's Bowers, so stopped in there. They had a handful of nice U.S. banknotes, including an UNC $2 Education note. They were also selling loose ASE's and slabbed ASE's with Q. David Bowers' signature. I didn't buy anything there, but did get a free auction catalog.
