I came across this lot in an auction. Train track nickel, copper planchet, 2 acid dipped coins, $1 planchet?, underweight nickel, and 2 dateless coins. The underweight nickel has me curious as to whether its a thin planchet or another acid coin.

A closer look at the nickel. By the coloring, I think it was chemically reduced in weight.

Less looks like it spent some time in a corrosive environment to me too.

Interesting group. Not sure about the nickel, but I am curious about that dollar looking mystery planchet.

All of them appear to have PMD, except for the other two.

If no one bids on the lot, I might pick it up. There are other coins in the auction I'm interested in. Auction was just listed so will be a week yet.

Why not just ask the seller what the diameter and weight is of the "gold" colored planchet is?

Looks like the nickel is acid soaked and the "copper planchet" may just be a sanded quarter as it mentions it has a reeded edge,

I agree with you Marve. That copper planchet is also too large to be a cent.
