1813-Half-Penny-Incomplete-Clip 1813-Half-Penny-Incomplete-Clip

Can anyone verify this is legitimate(I believe it is) and also how common this might be on these older coins?

Thanks

Looks like an 1813 NS-21A4 with a flaw at the date. Relatively common with a value of about $5 CAD in that condition.

The clip appears to be a vise job.

The marks made by the "clip" do not seem as worn as the underlying coin, so I would assume they came after minting.

Sorry about the typo in the title, its definitely 1813.

Can anyone share the features that you look for to identify an incomplete clip since the consensus seems to be that this is not genuine?
The indent in this coin is affected by the pitting the same as the rest of the coin, which to me indicates its also old, if not original to the coin.
There is tapering to the features and to the indent that looks the same to me as legitimate incomplete clips.
There is no material pushed past the intended diameter of the coin which I would think would happen in a vise job(the material has to go somewhere).
There is no "squishing" of the letters that the indent cuts through. I'm struggling to think of what could be used that would be so thin yet strong to cut unto the coin without causing other damge.

Thanks for any input

I have to admit that the arc where it intersects the rim near 'paper' looks legit...

I certainly thought so too.

Since some people are undecided, does anyone have an opinion on what it would be worth if it is legitimate?
I don't plan on selling it anytime soon, just like to fill my knowledge base.
