Great pick-up @jake! You can find information on these pieces by looking at some old CCF threads. Use the keywords SEPTIMUS SERVUS and you'll see a bunch of threads. Here are links to a couple to get you started. I'm sure others more knowledgeable than I am will also follow up with their own thoughts. http://goccf.com/t/436462http://goccf.com/t/75839

$110 is a more than fair price for a nice condition, well-centred Septimus denarius. The chipping and cracking around the rim is very typical of denarii of this time period; the silver was diminished in fineness from the good old days of the previous generations, and the silver alloy used for coinage was quite brittle by comparison with pure silver.
In terms of additional info about this specific coin, the reverse is FORTVNA REDUX (the goddess of Fortunate Returns). When the emperor had been travelling abroad (usually on military campaigns), sacrifices were made on the altar of Fortuna Redux in gratitude upon the emperor's safe return to the city, and issuing of FORTVNA REDVX coins often coincided with these events. Though the coin does not bear an actual date of issue, this particular issue of coins has been dated archaeologically and stylistically to AD 203, after the emperor had returned to Rome from a campaign annexing tribal territory in North Africa.
