Glad you like the idea! It allows one to be a "type" collector, but YOU get to decide the types you want (or can afford), not Mr. Whitman, Mr. Dansco, or Mr. Harris. I am definitely a history buff. One of the first 'year sets' I put together was 1861. The 1861 cent is the right diameter for the cent-hole, but too thick, so it had to go into the nickel-hole. I have a Three Cent Silver piece in the cent-hole and a gold dollar in the dime-hole. A quarter and half dollar compete the set (this is the 5-hole holder, as the 1861 silver dollar is a bit beyond my means, especially in a higher grade.) They are all dated 1861 and VF-30 to EF-45. I have other holders with coins G-4 to F-15, and other grade ranges. Whitman also makes holders for 5 quarters and 5 nickels, so there are lots of options, limited only by your imagination.

I think a better question would be to ask if there is anyone here who actually has the focus to stick to a plan and complete a collection without bouncing around. hehehe

I have the exact same problem and I've really had to stop myself from starting any new sets. I'm working on an indian head, Kennedy, Morgan, and all the whitman folders for circulated coins. It is pleasing once you start to get more than half way with a set. In fact yesterday I just completed 1962-1995 Whitman nickel folder. I spent about 3 weeks going through rolls to find a 1968-S. I found it yesterday, and it's beaten up, but completes my first set. Now if only I could complete the 1938-1961 folder from circulated coins...

Gothic Florin I think it might be possible to complete the Jefferson nickel set from rolls I was trying to complete a set from rolls and I got it down to about ten coins then I got excited because I was so close and I cheated and either bought or traded for the rest. the only problem I see is I think you would have a heck of a hard time finding a 1950-d
