I found this in a quarter roll and it also has some extra letters on the reverse.I am a new coin hunter.

@ldj, first welcome to CCF. Second, I'm seeing normal circulation wear, Reed Marks on George's neck, and surface discoloration. Can you please describe in more detail where you are seeing extra letters? It might be just Pareidolia.

Staining due to exposure to foreign substance, considered environmental damage, as mentioned by Spence, the strike is normal.

To CCF! Just seeing a stained and environmentally damaged quarter. The "extra letters" you're seeing is Pareidolia.

Right - just staining/toning. Get yourself a scale (0.00g). A toned coin should weigh normal and a coin missing clad will weigh light.
