1997-D-Washington-Quarters-Are-These-Errors-Or-Circulation-Stains? 1997-D-Washington-Quarters-Are-These-Errors-Or-Circulation-Stains?

I was waiting to buy some candy at a school game and while I waited I decided to check the coins on my hand. I didn't get the candy, kept the coins and trying to figure out if these are actual errors or circulation stains? Thank you indulging me.

They look stained and may have sat in a cup holder with spilled coffee or soda. Keep looking, though. There are cool coins still out there!

Stains, considered damage but still worth 25 cents.

Yes, staining--evidence of (dried) liquid remains. May have sat in a moist cup holder.

Thank you. that's what I thought, but the backs are clear with no smudges or stains. Check this 1977 - I think it's a Denver but was part of the roll. Students were giving change from quarter rolls and I was thinking maybe a collector returned the roll in error. That being said, thank you and I am glad I joined the community.

It's not an error. It's stained. Worth 25 cents.
