Hello to all, can anyone give me an idea of how much a roll (40) of Washington Silver quarters should sell for in circulated condition (G-XF)and a variety of dates? I tried going to a local coin dealer he was offering me $19 for my roll. I have seen rolls on ebay that will sell for $100 or more and they too are in circulated condition.

Thanx.

No dealer ever will be if you are expecting fair market value for coins that he intends to resell for a profit

However $19 is far below what any trustworthy dealer should ever offer.

Minimally, 9-10x face which is $2-2.50/quarter so about $80-100/roll. That is what honest dealers should be paying for common circulated 90% silver coinage right now with silver @$14+/oz. $19 is an absurd offer and you should never visit that dealer again because he obviously cannot be trusted

Wow, did he say nineteen dollars with a straight face? I have no experience with dealers. There aren't many in my area. This isn't typical is it?

GT, some are great and you need to figure out who they are and stick with them. There is a lot of less than reputable dealers and "they ain't yo friend".

I would check out a few more dealers if you have the chance to. Build up a good relationship with one if possible. If you do sell them on ebay you might get more from them but also you will be paying fees and such that could very easily balance out any profit you might get over selling it to a local

I would try another dealer because ebay fees can quickly eat up any potential profit on small amounts of "junk" circulated silver. Hopefully you can hook up with a dealer that will treat you right and you can establish a buying/selling relationship with them. My local dealer was buying at 9x face recently and might have bumped it to 10x face now that silver is on the rise again. He usually will sell for 2x face more than buy price so at 10x buy, the sell price would be 12x face.

Thats a good point about fees. ebay and paypal fees can make a difference. building a relationship with a local dealer would be good. I'll keep that in mind next time I try to sell something.

id go back to that dealer and try to sell, then when he offers $19 refuse his offer and instead offer to buy rolls of his for $38.

Personally I would not pay less than 10x. I posted an ad once saying I was buying at 13x, and many people brought UNC coins to me.

Wow he was ripping you off. I run a pawn shop and we generally buy circulated silver coins at about 5% below spot. At todays prices for a 90% silver circulated quarter thats $2.51 each or $100.40 for a roll. With such a high premium for both coins and precious metals I can easliy resell them in the store for $4 each.
Rest in Peace

If you can't do better than $19, you should just hang on to them.
