I came across a roll of 1937-P Buffalo nickels in my ancestors coin collection this evening and am wondering what you all think of the grade of this example.

Will appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Edited to indicate 1937-P. Thanks MisterT for noting my mistake.

You need to edit your title to 1937. Also not seeing the D mint mark on this example. That is a nice coin. looks uncirculated in these pics. Is the rest of the roll like this one?

Thanks MisterT.

You're right. I posted the wrong one from my phone but this 1937-P is also very nice.

They are both from uncirculated rolls. So I am trying to pull out the best ones.

The 1938-D is below.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi Matt, The bottom pic is mislabeled too. That is a 1938D. Shame about the carbon spots. Better off starting a new thread for individual coins. Mods like you to only post one coin per thread to avoid confusion.

Sorry about those mistakes. I blame it on lack of sleep.

I'll fix it and take your much appreciated advice on the separate threads. Apologies for the confusion.

Nice to see some original rolls of Buffalos turning up! Looks like they are in pretty good shape!

Be sure and check the 1938 roll for RPMM's and D/S mintmarks. That year was notorious for them.

If it were me, I'd enjoy them for a few days and then just roll them back for a few more years! You just don't see those rolls like you used too!

Thx for sharing!

the 37 & 38's are well know for higher grade coins. on the 37 there appears to be either some very light circulation wear on the high points on the cheek, jaw and forehead or missing luster. this one is a tough call as the overall coin is quite nice. I'm wondering if it was pulled out circulation. hoping FC chimes in on this one as I would like to see what his call is. AU58 or MS64 which is quite a spread but then again grading by photo almost always alters the in-hand look of a coin. if all the luster is there on both sides i'd go with MS65

lots of shadows on the 38D making it difficult to assess all the surfaces. the coin appears to be MS. with all the tiny marks, most likely bag hits as well as all the carbon spots maybe MS64

I'm at AU-55 for my estimate.
