I'm 20 rolls deep into a 2023 P Shield Cent bank box, found 100 of these so far. The "v" is in the identical spot on each coin as is the minor yet noticeable crack at the top of President Lincolns' head on all 100. Got a laugh at myself when I viewed two back to back and I'm like, I just looked at you I can't tell if the v is incused or not but I'm leaning towards die chip. Would a die chip hang around that long in the same position? Is it an oddity that both anomalies repeat? I've yet to find a coin that has only one or the other. A chip will be on the rest of the coins that that die produces. Just as the crack. They might get bigger but never disappear.

I can't grasp why such a minute imperfection would be examined so intensely...no (and will never be) added value.... Maybe neat to see the progression of the die crack, but that little chip on his collar I believe these cheap microscopes are such a negative to this hobby. If you can't see it with 5x to 10x magnification....then it's no big deal

I actually rock a boujee AmScope but it's too much trouble to remove the eyepiece/insert camera/reassemble for something I already know isn't a big deal. The cheap scope is for quick imaging, nothing more, it's better than my 10 year old iPhone. Matter of fact, the defects in the coins can be seen naked eye, no magnification necessary. No intense examination was required nor conducted

Wrapped up the search on this bank box today, 350 of them display both of these identical anomalies. Kudos to those of you that do these box searches! I highly doubt I'll ever search that many rolls again.

Pretty cool that you came across 350 of them, 13205150! You should have Mike Diamond look at one.
