I agree with E&V, this has strong possibilities of a split planchet (Would love to see the reverse side again in focus though.)

What is the weight of your coin?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I'm thinking if a split planchet the reverse memorial wouldn't have that strong of detail. You think maybe split before strike? Causing the weak details on the obverse too?

Quote: You think maybe split before strike? Causing the weak details on the obverse too? Yes that is exactly what I'm thinking too. Lady, can you provide us with the weight of this coin, and perhaps a side image of it - but have t 'normal' coins with the image - sandwich this coin between the normal ones so we can see the thickness compared to the normal ones.

You know, it's funny this topic is. Usually a new member will post up a cion and declare it is an amazing error coin, and we have to {unfortunately) shoot it down as PMD or something. But here we have a new Member post up a nice coin and out of the starting gate - declares a " PMD coin on both sides". And we turn around and after a good look and declare it as a nice split planchet. This is a nice error coin, One I have NEVER found yet. (sorry for my rambling) had that thought in my head and had to dump it here. Nice find of this coin LadyT351.

Quote: not sure how to take side pics of coin You just get 2 circulated 1 cent coins stack them and place your coin in the middle, then hold all 3 together with your fingers and then take a picture of the edges of the 3 coins.. Which reminds me - don't hold this split planchet by the obverse and reverse - so you don't get fingerprints on it because after some time they become permanent.
