has anybody ever seen something like this or know how it could of happened? its clearly got a star partially embedded into the rim on the reverse side & along side it is a dot that is also partially embedded into the rim. this is a first for me.

Seriously? :/ are you saying you don't see a star? I haven't even glanced at a coin for anything more then counting it. I'm seeing a star because there is clearly a star. I'm sure if I looked I could find a medical term for why you don't see a star LOL

in order for it to be PMD it would have to been smashed evenly everywhere except for those to spots for them to be raised above everything else.

What is your hypothesis for the presence of the alleged star and dot on your coin? Did a mint worker surreptitiously punch a star and dot on the die and your coin is the only one that has been recovered?

Looks like small spots of zinc corrosion to me, clear pictures of the area would help.

How about a better image of this with better lighting? That one above is too dark to see the details you can see in hand.
