The whole coin looks off, like it probably is not a genuine coin from the start. Looks too good to be true. Report this Post to the Staff

It definitely has some aspects of a cast counterfeit, but I also see indications such as stress lines suggesting that it may be die struck. The little rim burr above LIBERTY is interesting. This doesn't look like the reverses I have seen on other Chinese 1909-S VDB counterfeits. I wonder if they have yet another new reverse die or if this entire fake may be a new entry in the counterfeit hall of shame. It's worth keeping these photos for future reference.
