I found this beauty in a collector's odds and ends drawer and thought to myself why would someone do that to this coin. The AD counterstamp, I mean. Then after a while I was appreciating the stamp, too. It is tastefully done in my opinion. Twice! On the reverse, look for it down near the date. Is anyone familiar with AD? Thoughts? Comments? Questions? All feedback/wisdom is, as usual, much appreciated. (P.S., not sure what happened here but that blur at the top of the photo of the obverse is the photo not the coin).
Letter counterstamps are difficult or impossible to attribute, unfortunately. Even if you found a contemporary person with those initials, how could one prove it is them?
