I've been collecting silver for years and I bought 20 pieces of a 1921 Morgan hoard. Amongst these pieces I found this Morgan with a missing D in dollar, and part of the E is not complete. I would love to hear what you all think, and possibly what you think the value may be? Getting ready to send it off to to get graded properly. I downloaded the app coin snap. It grades it at about uncirculated.

Do not send that coin to be graded. You will be throwing money away. That coin is cleaned and worth it's silver value, about $26.50, and no more. The faint D is likely from die polishing, grease in the die or (unlikely) a planchet problem. It is not unusual and adds no value imo.

Why are you submitting coins for grading? Please let us see what you have as grading is expensive and not worth paying for unless you have higher value coins. Welcome to CCF!

All right that sounds a big mystery for me thank you. I did take it to a numismatic to have authenticated and he did say that I had something there. So I went to several others and they all agreed. Thank you for your input. R

To CCF! Probably most likely a Grease Filled Die issue. It also does appear to have been cleaned. Not worth sending off for grading. Save your time and money.

Wheel68,

While the opinions sought may not be what You like, The Opinions given are Accurate.

I too believe you have a Grease Filled Die to a Morgan silver dollar,..... ( not special, seen all the time ). Thanks for Sharing....
